First Bethany Baptist Church Staff

Reverend John H. Alexander, Jr (Pastor John) is a native of South Carolina, born and raised in nearby Ninety Six.  Married to the former Stephanie Ann Marbut (originally of Lilburn, Georgia), he is the father of three children and the proud grandfather of three as well.

Pastor John is a bi-vocational Pastor, living out his calling to "Go, Tell, Preach, and Baptize" in the workplace as well as the church.

Previously, Pastor John served in many different capacities as a lay-person at the church from where he was sent out, First Baptist Church of Ninety Six.

In 2010, he was called to be on staff at Abney Memorial Baptist Church of Greenwood as the Family & Outreach Pastor. During his stint there, he was officially ordained as a Pastor.

Pastor John has been on staff at First Bethany since November of 2014.

Pastor John has had the privilege of serving in different capacities both with the state convention as well as the local association, where he formerly served as Moderator of the Edgefield Baptist Association on two different occasions.

"Just one beggar telling other beggars where to find bread" is how he would describe himself and his ministry style. He has a passion for missions and a yearning to see those "who know Him not" come to call upon Jesus.
